Matt Dodge’s foundation wasn’t built in a spotlight, but on a drum throne. From captaining his high school drumline to his early years in the Minneapolis circuit, Dodge lived in the pocket, marching tenors and bass drums before ever picking up a microphone. It was in the Twin Cities trenches, fronting The LOBSTERS! at legendary rooms like 7th Street Entry and The Fine Line, where he first learned how to command a physical space.

In 2010, Dodge took that Midwest work ethic to Los Angeles, navigating the scene as a drummer-for-hire before his career pulled him into the architecture of sound. He spent the next decade leading industry titans like Manley Laboratories and Slate Digital, helping design the very tools used in world-class studios globally. Yet, the songwriter and the drummer remained at his core; for Dodge, the high-end studio became a decade-long laboratory to refine a sound that bridged the power-pop grit of his roots with a new, cinematic weight.

His return to the stage was a deliberate "stepping up." Moving to the front of the kit to realize a vision that had been simmering for years, Dodge took full control as a primary songwriter, crafting both the intricate musical arrangements and the sharp, poetic lyricism that define his work. Under his own Rockerpreneur Publishing banner, he brought this rhythmic, lyric-forward rock to iconic LA stages like the Whisky A Go Go and El Cid, delivering performances backed by a "fine, I’ll do it myself" spirit.

Today, while Dodge continues to consult for the world’s leading audio tech companies, his focus has shifted to his true pursuit. With the upcoming EP Dramacracy, he is less interested in the science of the gear and more focused on the feeling of a room at full volume. It’s the sound of a complete artist who understands how to build a record from the ground up, but still writes with the heartbeat of a drummer.
